Eugene lives in Crawley and has done so for most of his life, except for a few flits around the world, including to the USA . I don't know much about the early years. I have known Eugene since 1997, when we met at University Radio Falmer at the University of Sussex . Eugene was doing a degree in Electronic Engineering. We both joined the committee of the radio station and Eugene worked in the publicity department and helped me with Engineering. Eugene then became Programme Controller.
After we left university, Eugene continued his interest in radio, working part time for Surf 107 in Brighton and Mercury FM in Crawley. In August 2000 he created the jingle package for Radio Airbourne in Eastbourne, where we were running an short term, 28 day radio station, based in the studios of the local hospital station, of which I was a member.
Proper work was calling, and in summer 2000 Eugene joined the BBC Research and Development, where he worked for two years as a Spectrum Planning Engineer (basically working out where transmitters needed to be positioned for improved coverage of the BBC's services).
After a couple of years there, Eugene finally got a job in radio, although it was at Beat 106 in... Glasgow ! Quite a way from his beloved Crawley . Eugene loved working at Beat 106, but after a couple of years, he decided that it was time to move back south, as Glasgow is a very long way to have to commute every time someone has a birthday party (ok, that is quite a watered down version of what actually happened!).
In summer 2004 Eugene rejoined the BBC in the R&D department at Kingswood Warren in Surrey (which is part of London !).
And that ends us up more or less where we are now. At the beginning of 2005 Eugene attended the Cardiff audition for Big Brother, and three auditions later he took part in the trial, un-broadcast week, that the public don't know about, which is how Kinga knew him.
On 22 nd June 2005 Eugene was called by Endemol, and the rest, as they say, is history!
