Diary: April/May 2006

In April I was invited to go over to Cairo, in Egypt to do some Engineering work for Nile FM. (www.nilefmonline.com). It is the first western station in Cairo and also there is the Arabic service Nugoom FM.

I have to say the Music was great, current hits (the good ones) but with classic hits (oldies) in the mid morning then as it gets to the evening, requests and even dance. It is really good. I stayed wit Scott Phillips and his Girlfriend Parm who were really nice. I added the ability to record telephone calls, "compressed headphones" and replaced all the faders.

While out there I managed to see some of Cairo Life saw the city, saw the Pyramids (well, near them, the Museum, the Cinema in Maddi Corniche. The driving out there is, emm, unusual ;) it runs quite efficiently but more by luck than skill. It is a bit of a free for all.

I have also got myself involved with a Radio Station called "Passion Radio".
It is on the internet, but about to go onto Digital Radio (DAB). They play Classic Dance music and it does sound good. They are running a 28day FM service in Brighton and I have been the "geek on the street" on Breakfast and also been presenting Sunday's 9AM - 12. It is good fun, but I think the early mornings are taking their toll.

Today I have been interviewed by BBC online and Radio 1 about the new Big Brother starting on the 18th May. It is quite funny., nearly a whole year has gone since I was on it. Still, the skill is keeping doing things. I hope that they make it a little more intelligent - I somehow doubt it will though. The problem is these housemates are often so volatile and argue over nothing. I tried to stay out of it. It is supposed to be more crowded than ever, however, the pics I saw in Heat suggest it is a similar size. The area to the West which looks like a second garden is (or was) just waste from earlier series that had a larger garden. The Online interview was fun, we went out to Sheppards Bush to see how many people recognize me - seems to be 50% which, although biased for many reasons, would suggest in the region of 30million in the UK!! We then went up to the top of TVC to record an interview for Radio 1 Newsbeat. I think I was on form.

Then, over the weekend, I am in France at the Dragonball Run - this is 40 Toyota Supras driving over North France. I spent a day playing with a TV camera (Sony Z1) learning its features. It was quite straightforward to use, but there were still some quirks. It overexposes everything and needs to be toned down a little. I am sure I will figure that out as I am using it on the Supra Run!

Keep watching and keep reading.

Hi there

The BBC site directed me over here, very interesting article about life after BB.

I look forward to your comments about the latest BB once it gets started, but more than that, wish you all the very best in life.

BTW my hubby was a self-confessed virgn up until just before we met as very mature people and that didn't hold either him or me back. He too was fussy and I'm well happy Wink Keep your principles because it will be worth it when you are ready.

Based on your performance in the BB house, and your technical interests, you'd be a great candidate for presenting / writing / editing any material which requires explaining technical concepts to non-technical people (i.e. the general public).

I'm thinking along the lines of Tomorrows World, Jonny Ball, and programmes you see on the Discovery Channel.

I'm surprised you haven't been snapped up yet and, if you are interested, I would put myself forward for this sort of work if I were you. Doing telly, radio and magazines solely off the back of BB is bound to typecast you as merely a BB contestant. In contrast, you are a bright technical person with a real talent for explaining things.

Lots of us out here can associate with your interests and talents and want you to do well.

Good luck!

scott
